ANGKOR & ASIA ADVENTURES has been busy!
Even though our expertise lies with our custom-made tours of the temples of Angkor, there’s so much more to see and do all over Cambodia and Southeast Asia. We’ve been logging in a lot of miles traveling throughout the Kingdom of Wonder during December and January. Now we’ve returned with wonderful new adventures that we know our friends will love as much as we did having them!
Ratanakiri province is in the northwest part of Cambodia and where we heard a lot of elephants were to be found, so we decided to see if we could locate a few. Near the town of Banlung, we stopped for a rest and found out from some local folks that they had a friend who indeed owned some elephants in the jungle. After a few phone calls, we located the owner and got to see them for ourselves. Not only that, but we came prepared with 20kgs of bananas!
We took the elephants to the local stream where they take their daily baths and before we knew it, we were in the water with them, tossing bananas everywhere and having an elephant party! We found a really great hotel at the nearby city of Banlung and now we’ve put all the pieces together to create the A&AA Elephant Adventure!
Our time in Ratanakiri was far too short. We look forward to returning soon!
We travel a lot throughout the Kingdom of Wonder in search of new experiences for our guests and this time we logged in some 1800 kilometers that took us all over Cambodia. After Ratanakiri, we made our way to the Gulf of Thailand where we met a boat to take us to the island of Koh Rong. This tropical paradise was perfect to escape our face-paced lives and leave the cell phones and Internet behind. The seafood was amazing and we had the beaches to ourselves!
Back on the mainland, we drove about 100km north to Koh Kong where we met a boat captain to take us up the Tatai River to the jaw-dropping Tatai Waterfalls. This was perfect time of year as the current is gentle and the never-ending staircases of limestone allow for pool after pool of swimming fun. As beautiful as the Tatai Waterfalls are this time of year, they must be breathtaking (although too fast for swimming) during the wet season.
Boat trip up the Tatai River to the The Tatai Waterfalls - crystal Hey! There are FISH in here!!!
amazing Tatai Waterfalls clear pools for swimming all day!
Again, we found wonderful accommodations throughout our trek, made A&AA agents of the local people who invited us to see what their part of the world has to enjoy. Now we can offer to our guests the same adventures that we had! Be it wet or dry season, Cambodia has a magic all its own. Come see for yourself!
